In an interview to Bloomberg, Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell, said: “You will see us be reasonably active.”

The US-based PC maker, in order to compete with HP and IBM, is planning to consider more deals in the healthcare industry, said Michael Dell to the news agency.

Dell is racing ahead into IT services area. In September 2009, the company has acquired technology services firm Perot Systems for $3.9 billion.

According to media reports, Dell is looking for acquisitions in healthcare space, considering that the usage of information technology is minimal.

Bloomberg quoted Dell as saying: “There has been a faster-than-people-expected improvement in the broader economy, but it might be a little early to get out the celebration horns. For the technology sector, the prospects are pretty good. Fundamentally we sell productivity, and if there’s anything you need in an economy that’s not that robust, it’s productivity.”

Meanwhile Perot Systems has announced that it will acquire BearingPoint Management Consulting (Shanghai), a management and technology consulting company with offices in Shanghai and Beijing.

This development follows the September 21, 2009 announcement that Perot Systems will be acquired by Dell, a transaction that combines Perot Systems' services portfolio with Dell's global reach, significant existing services unit, and hardware products. The overall combination will give enterprises in China access to a complete suite of IT, applications, business-process, and consulting services.
