Cisco Names New COO

Mr Moore previously ran Cisco Services and will continue to report to John Chambers, chairman and CEO of Cisco.

Effective immediately, Mr Moore will assume responsibility for engineering, marketing, operations and services organizations. He will be responsible for the alignment and prioritization of company investments and ensuring operational excellence across the company.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Moore was responsible for leading the overall strategy and execution for Cisco Services. In that role, his team of over 10,000 employees was comprised of subject matter experts and consultants who help customers' businesses work smarter. Services at Cisco have an annualized revenue run rate of more than $8 billion.

Mr Moore joined Cisco in 2001 from the network consulting company Netigy Corporation, where as CEO he expanded the business globally through 22 months of continuous revenue growth.

Before Netigy, Mr Moore had a 26-year career at Electronic Data Systems (EDS), where he held a number of executive positions. While at EDS, he was instrumental in its creation of Hitachi Data Systems, serving as president and CEO of Hitachi Data Systems from 1989 through 1992.

Mr Chambers said: “Gary is a seasoned and trusted leader who consistently delivers results. He is uniquely qualified to drive strategic prioritization and accountability within Cisco, with a laser-focus on operational excellence.”
