Modern Times Group Makes Executive Changes
Irina Gofman, currently CEO of MTG Russia and CIS, will be responsible for managing the groupâ€™s mini-pay channel business in CEE and other emerging markets, and satellite pay-TV platform in Ukraine.
The changes are effective May 31, 2011.
Mr Nilsson is also head of the groupâ€™s free-TV operations in the Baltics and Slovenia, and head of Bulgarian TV operations. He also served as head of Sweden between 2003 and 2007, and as CEO of online business between 2008 and 2010.
Mr Nilsson became president of the groupâ€™s radio operations in 1997 and was appointed as president of publishing business area in 2000.
Previously, Ms Gofman served the group as COO of the DTV Russian national TV network between 2002 and 2004. She was involved in the establishment of the Group's mini-pay channel business in Russia.
Ms Gofman is also the non-executive member of the board of directors of CTC Media, in which MTG owns 38.2 percent stake.
Hans-Holger Albrecht, president and CEO of the group, said: â€œThese changes mark a natural progression of the MTG Media House Strategy, combining both our free- and pay-TV activities under one roof, as well as consolidating our pay-TV operations.â€
MTG's Viasat Broadcasting is a free-TV and pay-TV operator in Scandinavia and the Baltics, and has broadcasting operations in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Russia, Ukraine and Ghana. Viasatâ€™s free-TV and pay-TV channels and pay-TV platforms attract a total of 125 million viewers in 33 countries.
