Brazilian healthcare industry to grow 14.5% during 2010-13
The Brazilian healthcare industry is one of the emerging sectors of the nation and is believed to witness stupendous growth in coming years owing to enhanced private investments in this sector, said the research firm.
The demand and supply of drugs is an important factor that has spurred the growth of the healthcare industry and has attracted many private players to bid for tenders for the supply of essential drugs to the public healthcare facilities, added the research firm.
For the past few years, Brazil has been the focus of investment among the worldâ€™s major emerging countries. Moreover, Brazil has entered the investment route of major multinational pharmaceutical companies.
Acquisitions, mainly in the generic drugs segment, are estimated to be the focus of those companies in 2010, in the country.
Large national laboratories that were considered as purchase target for the foreigners have also joined the consolidation movement and are now focusing on foreign markets for expansion, adds the research firm.
