Visa Q2 Operating Revenues Up
By NS Admin Published 06 May 2011For the second quarter of 2011, the company posted net income attributable to the company was $881m, compared to $713m for the same period in 2009.
Operating income for the second quarter of 2011 was $1.38 billion, compared to $1.12 billion for the same period in 2010. Total operating expenses were $862m, compared to $837m for the same period in 2010.
For the six months of 2011, the company posted net income attributable to the company was $1.76 billion, compared to $1.47 billion. Total operating expenses were $1.73 billion, compared to $1.58 billion for the same period in 2009.
Total operating revenues for the six months of 2011 were $4.48 billion, compared to $3.91billion for the same period in 2009. Operating income was $2.74 billion, compared to $2.33 billion in the same period of 2009.
For the fiscal second quarter of 2011, service revenues were $1.1 billion, an increase of 24 percent versus the prior year, and are recognized based on payments volume in the prior quarter. All other revenue categories are recognized based on current quarter activity.
Data processing revenues rose 13 percent over the prior year to $823m. International transaction revenues, which are driven by cross border payments volume, grew 14 percent over the prior year to $624m.
Joseph Saunders, chairman and CEO of Visa, said: “Visa delivered a solid financial performance in our fiscal second quarter with double-digit growth in payments volume, cross border volume and Visa-processed transactions from across the globe.
“With a strong first half of our fiscal 2011 year behind us, we remain focused on driving continued transaction growth, maintaining strong financial performance and expense control discipline, and delivering value to our shareholders through share repurchase programs and dividend payments.â€
