Royal & SunAlliance appoints new CEO
Bridget McIntyre will move to Royal from UK rivals Norwich Union, where she is currently director for sales, marketing and underwriting. Reports suggest that the defecting McIntyre will be paid GBP350,000 in her new role. In a career that has spanned 12 years at Norwich Union, a subsidiary of the UK's largest insurance group Aviva, McIntyre also occupied the positions of finance director of UK long term savings, and finance director of general insurance and direct operations. Prior to moving to Norwich Union in 1993 she spent five years in finance roles at Volvo. At Norwich Union Bridget McIntyre developed and implemented the retail strategy for Norwich Union Direct, successfully launched Norwich Union Rescue and also led the team working on synergies, savings and organizational design for the merger with CGU. Andy Haste, group chief executive of Royal & SunAlliance, said: "I am delighted to welcome Bridget to the group. Her track record in the sector and proven ability to drive through change and deliver growth make her ideal to take the UK business to its next stage." Duncan Boyle will remain with Royal & SunAlliance until the end of the year to help manage the leadership transition, the company said.
