Unipetrol to fulfill stricter qualitative parameters
The permitted sulfur content in motor fuel will be reduced, based on the European regulations, from the current permitted maximum of 50ppm (mg/kg) to less than 10mg/kg. The new rule will take effect from January 1, 2009. The refineries of the group, Ceska rafinerska (producing also for Shell and Eni with its Agip petrol stations) and Paramo, have completed the transfer to sulfur-free fuel with a content of sulfur lower than 10mg/kg in the first half of 2008. 'Super-clean' fuel has thus been sold by all Benzina stations for several months already. Francois Vleugels, CEO and chairman of Unipetrol, said: "Unipetrol feels its responsibility. 70% of all the fuel sold on the Czech market comes from refineries of the group and our petrol stations network has the largest market share in the Czech Republic."
