Sembcorp wins favored customer contract from IGTC for LNG fleet services

BHP Billiton Petroleum, BP Australia Shipping, Chevron Australia Transport, Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Downstream Services, Shell Development Australia and Woodside Petroleum Holdings are the North West Shelf Venture participants. It is reported that this contract signifies the first time that a major liquefied natural gas (LNG) operator has committed to an evergreen long-term maintenance and refit contract. The contract will see the North West Shelf Shipping Service Company's (NWSSSC's) fleet of LNG carriers regularly dry-docking at Sembcorp Marine's Sembawang Shipyard and Jurong Shipyard, which are subsidiary shipyards in the Sembcorp Marine Group. NWSSSC is the main shipping advisor to the International Gas Transportation Company (IGTC), the Bermuda-registered parent shipping company of the North West Shelf Venture. NWSSSC provides advice and expertise to assist IGTC in managing its fleet of seven LNG carriers and ensuring the efficient and reliable transportation of LNG from Australia's North West Shelf to the Venture's customers in Japan, China and South Korea.
