Portuguese motorways to be equipped with fuel price indicator panels

The news source has quoted the Portuguese Fuel Association as saying that a total of 80 roadside panels will indicate fuel prices across the country's main motorways. The panels were initially expected to be functional by 2008 year-end but delays have meant that they will now come up only in February 2009. The 80 panels are estimated to cost E1.5 million to produce and install and each panel will be fixed 2km before the next petrol outlet and will indicate prices from all fuel retailers. The Portuguese Fuel Association, which is in charge of the project, has said that it does not expect the panels to be operational before February 2009. Joao Horta, general-secretary of the association, has said that despite being given four months from July 2008 to install the panels, it was too short of a duration to complete the whole procedure.
