99 Cents Only Stores Q2 total sales up
The company's same-store sales for the 91 days ended September 27, 2008, increased 4.7% versus the 91 days ended September 29, 2007. For the first half of fiscal 2009 ended September 27, 2008, net sales were $622.7 million, up 6.6%, versus $583.9 million for the six months ended September 30, 2007. Same-store sales for the first half of fiscal 2009 were up 2.1% compared to the same period in fiscal 2008. Eric Schiffer, CEO of 99 cents Only Stores, said: "We again experienced an increase in the number of overall same-store sales transactions, which indicates that we are continuing to attract new customers who are looking for ways to save during these challenging economic times. Additionally, we benefited from strong seasonal sales of produce, highlighting our buying team's success in finding a great assortment in the summer months."
