LGMC to undergo renovation and expansion
By NS Admin Published 30 November 1999The renovation includes an addition of 32 beds for the 300 bed facility.The first phase of the project include $8 million worth of 50 patient rooms, as well as carving out space near the emergency department for its pediatric emergency unit. The emergency room will consist of its own waiting room, exam areas and staff.The remodel will connect the rest of the hospital with its new modern entrance and $20 million refit of its women’s services and labor and delivery department, known as the Pavilion. Scott Hamilton, a medical adviser to the emergency department said that the renovation places the pediatric emergency unit closer to the emergency department. David Callecod, chief executive officer of Lafayette General Medical Center said that the updates will allow LGMC “to meet the needs of Acadiana for the next 20 to 30 years.â€
