KBR to Build New Apartment Complex in Maryland
A joint venture sponsored by Priderock Capital Partners has awarded the contract to KBR. The project will be managed by the Building Group’s Washington regional office based in Vienna, Virginia.
The Heritage project is a new nine-story building that will be connected to two existing buildings in an area of 1.88 acre property, one of which will be completely modified under the same contract.
KBR's Building Group will provide construction management services for the project. The Preston Partnership is the architect of record.
The project will house 210 units and includes two levels of underground parking, has been designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
David Zimmerman, president of KBR Services, said: “The Heritage at Georgia Avenue is intended to provide high quality rental housing with well-appointed amenities. Priderock’s selection of the Building Group to construct this apartment complex is attributable to our extensive experience with mixed-use projects in Greater Washington and our expertise with sustainable building practices.â€
In June 2011, KBR's Building Group has been selected by SYSCO Corporation for the design and construction of a new warehouse, office and distribution center for SYSCO Boston in Plympton, Massachusetts.
