HKS Architects signs lease in Northville, Michigan
By NS Admin Published 30 November 1999The company signed a 10 year lease which will increase its current work area of 9,000 square feet. The move is expected in April but will depend on build out progress, as the building's owner will apply for LEED-CI Silver Certification.Industrial designer Albert Kahn designed the 70,000 square foot building in the 1930s. It was built as a manufacturing facility for Henry Ford Sr. Ceiling heights vary from 20 to 28 feet.Carol Kartje, vice president for HKS, said the “company was definitely attracted by features that Kahn incorporated into the building’s design, such as expansive lengths of windows that allow direct airflow to the outside and the ability to rely on natural light.â€
