Expansion work kicks off at Pasadenaâ€™s Huntington Hospital
Tower is using a three-dimensional building modeling software program called Building Information Modeling to design the new 60,000 square feet addition. The expanded emergency department will have 50 beds. The first floor of the building under construction will be 22,120 square feet. On completion, the emergency department will shift into the new space and the existing emergency department space will be demolished and rebuilt. The combined space will be of 40,228 square feet. The new addition will also include a second and third floor and a "mechanical penthouse" that will house air handlers and other mechanical equipment for the new building.
