Apple and Samsung have been urged to end their wrangling over patents, as a US judge reviewed the $1.05bn award given to Apple in damages.
At the end of a hearing, Judge Lucy Koh said: "I think it's time for global peace".
Samsung had questioned the jury's decisions over the amount demanded in damages, and is asking for a new trial or a reduced damages bill. Apple has asked for an increased sum, and a ban on several Samsung phones being sold in the US.
The two companies are involved in a number of legal battles taking place in several different countries.
