By Alice Gribbin Published 30 April 2012
The Sunday Times has released its 2012 Rich List of the thousand wealthiest people in the UK - as of now. Despite the global and domestic economic slump, the combined wealth of Britain's richest amounts to £414 billion: over a third of the nation's debt. Compiled by Philip Beresford, the figures take into account the individuals' identifiable wealth and assets including property, land and other high-worth personal items - though exclude cash in the bank. Add those sums and Britain's Rich would undoubtedly appear Richer.

And billions live on 2 dollars a day, a billion do not have enough to eat, thousands are homeless and thousands of families are desperate for homes. Funny it is the labour of the workers that really creates the wealth and makes societies work. They may be rich but I would argue live vaccous lives. The right tries to portray the left as having the politics of envy but it is actually THE POLITICS OF SOCIAL JUSTICE - how do they sleep at night? I actually pity the rich and the super-rich - how rich are they really in terms of humanity. We don"twant charity,we want a redistribution of wealth, as John Lennon sang on Power to the People, "You better give them what they really own!"
