GM Korea Rolls Out First Chevrolet Aveo
The all-new Aveo will contribute to drive Chevrolet’s sales growth in 2011.
GM Korea revealed recently the change of new company name from GM Daewoo to GM Korea and Chevrolet launch in Korea, will launch eight products in Korean market in 2011 starting with Chevrolet Olando in February 2011.
As GM’s global base for de development of mini and small car architectures, the company led the design and engineering of the new model. With the production of the new Aveo, the utilization rate of the Bupyeong plant will rise sharply. It will join the company’s plants in Gunsan, Changwon and Boryeong in operating at full capacity.
The all-new Aveo’s design is supported by its strong performance and agile ride and handling. Two body styles are being offered: a stylish four-door sedan and a sporty five-door hatchback. Each delivers class-leading rear-seat roominess.
The all-new Aveo is longer and wider than its predecessor, giving it a spacious interior and cargo volume that are among the best in class. Its motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster features an analog tachometer along with a digital speedometer and warning lights.
The center console features upmarket blue backlighting that highlights the front cabin’s wrap-around fascia, which can be color-coordinated and flows from the dash into both the driver's and front passenger’s doors.
Reflecting its sporty personality, the all-new Aveo has been engineered to provide better handling. This is courtesy of its tight body frame integral structure, which has torsional rigidity that is among the stiffest in the small car segment.
Mike Arcamone, president and CEO of GM Korea, said: “The company is proud to be the first member of the GM family to produce and sell Chevrolet’s new small car. With demand for small cars on the rise worldwide, this is great news not only for our Korean customers, our employees and our suppliers.â€
