“He will have his work cut out in convincing ministers of this new approach”

Brendan Barber, general secretary of the TUC, gives his support to a new report from Lord Heseltine that calls for the government to take bolder action to stimulate the economy. The report, commissioned by Downing Street, says the government needs to localise funding to help businesses grow. Barber gave his support to Heseltine, but warned that government would need to “change their attitude” to civil servant, public bodies and unions to make the strategy succeed.
