Singer Lily Allen has asked her 2.7 million followers on Twitter not to tune into her new Channel 4 show because she's embarrassed by it. In a tweet posted this morning, Allen wrote:
We started filming it a year ago and I feel like a completely different person that the one that features in the programme. I'm inclined to ask you not to watch it cause quite frankly I am embarrassed.
The programme called Riches To Rags is a fly-on-the-wall show that follows the singer as she attempts to make the move into the fashion industry.
Her equivocal tweet continues:
On the other hand I want you all to watch it so you can see how the press coverage of it has been totally sensationalised and quotes taken out of context.
Despite the apparent bad publicity, Channel 4 is likely to welcome the attention generated by Allen's tweet. The first episode of Rags to Riches will be broadcast on Tuesday 15 March.
