A BBC Panorama program to be aired tonight shows how yet another News of the World journalist was involved in the illegal news-gathering operations.
Alex Marunchak, former senior executive editor at the weekly tabloid, is shown to have commissioned a hacker in order to intercept emails from a private computer in July 2006. Marunchak is the sixth News of the World journalist involved in the current scandal.
The victim was Ian Hurst, a former British army intelligence officer in Northern Ireland. Hurst was writing a controversial book describing the alleged participation of British Intelligence in various assassinations in Northern Ireland.
Andy Coulson, News of the World editor until 2007 and former communications officer for the Prime Minister, also stands accused. According to a former showbusiness writer interviewed by Panorama, he actively encouraged phone-hacking and email interceptions.
