David Mannion steps down as ITV News editor-in-chief

ITN chief executive pays tribute to "force of nature" after nearly a decade in the job.

David Mannion is to step down as ITV News editor-in-chief to take on a new role as special adviser to ITN chief executive John Hardie.

Mannion, who has been editor-in-chief since September 2002, will take up his newly created role in July.

He said: "This has been a huge decision for me but, after a decade in my current role, it feels the appropriate time for me to do other things.

"I am privileged to have worked at ITN with some of the greatest TV news professionals of our time and I am genuinely delighted to be taking on my new role working closely with my CEO John Hardie."
