Channel 4 has handed a reprieve to a couple after it was discovered that they were wrongfully booted out of the "Million Pound Drop" quiz show and lost £325,000 despite giving the right answer.

Husband and wife Johnny and Dee will return to Million Pound Drop on Friday night and will have their £325,000 kitty reinstated.

On the show last Friday, host Davina McCall asked the couple to name the longest-serving actor on Doctor Who from a choice of Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, David Tennant, and Christopher Eccleston.

Unable to decide on the correct answer, they split their remaining £650,000 between McCoy and McGann, but were told they had lost everything as Tennant was the right answer.

Soon, indignant viewers contacted producers of the Channel 4 show and pointed out the inaccuracy, claiming the contestants on the show should have won the cash.

After conducting an investigation into the matter, the channel issued a statement, "We apologise for this oversight and as a result, the contestants, Johnny and Dee, will return to the show to finish the game this Friday or Saturday at 10pm on Channel 4 with the £325,000 they played on McCoy."
