Vanessa Feltz to present BBC Radio 2 breakfast show

BBC London presenter to replace Sarah Kennedy in September.

BBC Radio 2 has lined up the BBC London 94.9 presenter Vanessa Feltz to present its early breakfast show after the departure of Sarah Kennedy in September, the Guardian reports.

Radio 2 controller Bob Shennan chose Feltz, who currently presents a morning phone-in on BBC London 94.9, to take over the station's early morning slot.

Feltz became famous with her BBC1 morning chatshow, which was stopped in 1999 after a fake guest scandal, and has been presenting a show on London 94.9 since 2003.

Feltz won a Sony gold award last year for speech broadcaster of the year.

However, Feltz's appointment is yet to be confirmed by the station. A Radio 2 spokeswoman said: "Radio 2 will announce the name of the early morning breakfast show presenter in the near future."

Shennan hinted at last month's Radio Festival that he is keen on having more women presenters at his station.
