Channel 5 reorganises commissioning team

Channel 5 is reportedly reorganising its commissioning team under its new owner Richard Desmond.

According to the Guardian, the broadcaster will promote the deputy head of acquisitions, Katie Keenan, and the deputy head of digital channels, Kate Barnes, to the roles of head of acquisitions and head of digital channels respectively.

Jeff Ford, the former managing director of digital channels and acquisitions, had been promoted to the role of director of programmes after Desmond took over the broadcaster.

The channel promoted Jessica Symons from manager to commissioning editor, children, while it appointed Greg Barnett as the commissioning editor for entertainment, soaps and daytime.

Compliance manager Sue Gould has been made the broadcaster's head of programme compliance.

The broadcaster confirmed that Steve Gowans and Andrew O'Connell will continue as the head of factual entertainment and head of factual respectively, and Ian Dunkley will move to the role of commissioning editor for factual entertainment.
