Sky News appoints on-air sport editor
Sky News sports presenter lands newly-created editing job after 15 years service
By Oliver Luft and... Published 23 August 2010Sky News today has appointed Nick Powell to the newly created role of on-air sport editor as part of changes to the channel's sport coverage.
Powell, who takes up his new role today, has worked for Sky for the past 15 years and has presented sports news on the channel for the last ten years.
In his new role, he'll split his time between appearing in bulletins, providing match analysis, presenting the Saturday Sport programme and day-to-day management of the Sky News sports department.
Powell's appointment coincides with the launch of Sky Sports News HD and internal changes that will see the sports news channel provide the news channel with regular weekday bulletins from its studios.
Further on-air changes will see presenters Charlie Thomas and Chris Skudder now also provide reports from the field during live sport events.
