Shed Media ends talks with Bowmark and Darwin

Shed is the producer of Supernanny and Waterloo Road.

Discussions over a proposed management buyout of Shed Media Group, a British creator and distributor of television content, by the private equity companies Bowmark Capital and Darwin Private Equity have collapsed.

The two private equity firms were reportedly in talks with the Shed management since December 2009. In April 2010, they said the talks were "continuing to advance".

However, Shed, the producer of Supernanny and Waterloo Road, has said the talks have ended. The company's management, headed by its chairman Heather Rabbatts, is now in discussion with another unnamed suitor. The media company was also approached by Lloyds Development Capital last year.

Rule 2.8 of the takeover code prohibits Bowmark and Darwin from making a renewed bid for Shed Media for the next six months.

Shed Media, which owns production companies including Wall to Wall, Ricochet and Twenty Twenty, had weathered last year's downturn effectively. It reported an adjusted pre-tax profit of £12m and its revenues increased by 13 per cent year-on-year to £92.6m.
