Adam Boulton regrets on-air row with Alastair Campbell

Sky News editor sorry for trading barbs on Today programme with former Labour communications head.

Sky News political editor Adam Boulton has regretted his furious on-air row with Labour's former head of communications, Alastair Campbell, the Independent has reported.

He told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme that he had shown a bit of more temper than was necessary.

Boulton noted that he was irritated someone like Campbell, who does not have any post in Labour, was trying to tell him about the government's future actions.

He added that as he was trying to explain this to Campbell, he responded nastily and even attacked Boulton's integrity.

Boulton said the incident reminded him of former Today presenter Brian Redhead getting into a similar row with the Tory Chancellor Nigel Lawson in 1987 when Lawson accused Redhead of being a life-long Labour supporter.
