ITV hires former Virgin Radio executive Fru Hazlitt

Hazlitt is the second senior ITV appointment made by chief executive Adam Crozier, after the appoint

ITV has hired former Yahoo and Virgin Radio executive Fru Hazlitt, a week after announcing that its commercial chief Rupert Howell is leaving, reports the Guardian.

Hazlitt, also the former chief executive of the radio group GCap, will take on the new role of managing director of commercial and online at the broadcaster, bringing together its online and TV sales businesses.

She will take over the roles of both Howell - the managing director for brand and commercial - and Ben McOwen Wilson, who was until recently the managing director for online and interactive.

Wilson, who was responsible for the ITV Player, joined the company in 2006 as the first director of strategy. He was made director in November 2008.

ITV's director of television and channels, Peter Fincham, will continue to wield control over editorial content across all platforms, including online.
