BBC1 Science plans real-world documentary

Former BBC political editor Andrew Marr is going to make a documentary series called Megacities for

The programme will explore the functioning of some of the world's biggest urban agglomerations such as Dhaka, Tokyo, Shanghai and London.

To add some reality to the show, Marr gets his hands dirty, showing the ugly underbelly of the chaotic and busy Mexico City bustling with people.

Accoring to the BBC's head of Science, Kim Shillinglaw, the documentary series is about real-world sciences such as mechanics, engineering, infrastructure and transport.

BBC1's Science has until now focused more on medical soaps, easy human interest documentaries and Trauma and City Hospital documentaries, and less on real-world projects such as Megacities.
