Scrabble secured the rights from Crown Infotainment, which holds 10-year theatrical rights for the IPL in India.
The entertainment company plans to air the cricket matches live across 120 3D-enabled theatres in the country. The company's CEO, Ranjit Thakur, said they will not just put the game of cricket on big screens, but provide a stadium-like experience to the audience.
The company expects to earn about Rs.100m (approximately £1.4m) from the telecast.
Revenues earned over Rs.25m will be shared with UFO Moviez, a digital distribution company and sister concern of Crown Infotainment.
Scrabble plans to invest about Rs.20m for promoting the 3D screenings.
