Sky TV in broadcast deal with Sanzar

Sky Television has entered into a five-year deal with Sanzar rugby unions to screen live rugby games

Sanzar unions is a joint venture of the rugby unions of South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.

The broadcast arrangement covers the Super 15, June test matches between the All Blacks and northern hemisphere teams, the Tri Nations, inbound tours to New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, and the domestic competitions in South Africa and New Zealand.

NZPA Sky will be paying more than the current deal under the new agreement, said Sky chief executive John Fellet. He added that it would work better for Sky as the Super 15 would have more local derbies under a new structure.

According to Radio New Zealand News, the New Zealand Rugby Union's chief executive Steve Tew said the deal was a "positive step".
