Premier League to challenge Ofcom

The English Premier League has reportedly instructed its lawyersto draw up a legal challenge to Ofco

The Premier League is worried that the price cuts will impact competition for football rights.

The lawyers are believed to be going through Ofcom's 650-page document and drawing up a feasibility study. The results are expected in two weeks' time.

The League is likely to argue that the regulator acted disproportionately and overstepped its powers by making a ruling that harms competition.

Ofcom last week ruled that Sky should cut the amount it charges rivals, such as BT and Virgin Media, for Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 content by 23 per cent per subscriber per month.
