BBC drops The Accidental American

The BBC has dropped a controversial drama, The Accidental American, that portrayed Tony Blair's rela

The draft script included a scene in which Blair and his Director of Communications Alastair Campbell forced the then-chair of the Joint Intelligence Committee, John Scarlett, to "sex up" the dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, published in September 2002.

The inclusion of such controversial scenes led to the resignations of the BBC chairman and director general in early 2004, which delayed the commissioning of the drama.
