One in four UK households will own a 3D TV by 2014

Experts predict that one in four British households will own a 3D television in just four years, eve

Head of Television technology at research house Screen Digest, Tom Morrod, predicted that 22 per cent of all the televisions sold worldwide by 2014 will be 3D sets.

Morrod said the popularity of 3D movies like Avatar would drive the market for 3D TV sets.

Experts believe that demand from sports fans could push up the popularity of 3D television, especially with the upcoming Fifa World Cup, which will be screened live in 3D around the world.

BSkyB has also launched a 3D channel for the Premier League clash.
