BBC apologises for ad gaffe

Over 5,000 complaints about Dr Who ending.

Responding to the complaints over the timing of an ad during the climax of a Dr Who show on Saturday, the BBC said it will ensure that the mistake is not repeated. The ad, featuring a cartoon version of Graham Norton, presenter of Over the Rainbow, popped up on screen as viewers were watching the dramatic climax of the episode.

Viewers complained that the ad spoiled their enjoyment of the drama. The BBC acknowledged that the scheduling of the ad was inappropriate.
"The Over the Rainbow trail in Doctor Who should not have played out on Saturday and we apologise to all Doctor Who fans whose enjoyment of the show was disrupted", said a spokesman.
