One million watch Clegg interview with Mary Nightingale

Figures down on Cameron, and way lower than Brown interview with Piers Morgan.

Viewing figures for Nick Clegg's ITV1 interview with Mary Nightingale amounted to approximately half of those who watched Eddie Izzard: Marathon Man, on BBC1, reported the Guardian.

The figures were the lowest for televised interviews with the three major political leaders in Britain. Prime minister Gordon Brown came out top when his interview with Piers Morgan attracted more than 4 million viewers when it aired on ITV1 last month.

Broadcaster Trevor McDonald's interview with Conservative leader David Cameron was watched by almost 1.7 million viewers, less than half this figure, according to unofficial overnight figures. The programme was aired in the same Sunday evening slot on ITV.
