BBC Global News set for management shake-up

The BBC Global News has set out plans to combine or remove about nine executive roles into four to s

Two global news posts - controller of future media, technology and distribution that is currently held by Mike Cronk, and head of governance and public affairs currently occupied by Hugh Saxby - will be scrapped. Both Cronk and Saxby will leave the Corporation.

A new post, controller of English services, combining the roles of director of world news, Sian Kevill, and director of World Service's English networks and news, Gwyneth Williams, will be created.

The posts of director of digital content for world news (currently held by James Montgomery), world news commercial director (held by Colin Lawrence) and controller of strategy business and development, global news (held by Jim Egan), will be closed.

These three posts will be replaced by two new posts, namely, global news' business director (who will also be managing director for world news) and global news' controller, digital and technology.

A new post, controller of English, to commission English-language content across all platforms, will be created.

The post of director for world news will be scrapped. Peter Horrocks will take up this role along with his present job as head of global news.
