‘Evening Sessions’ is back – but only for a day

The BBC has announced that the popular Evening Sessions show is to return on 6 Music for a one-off s

The show gave rise to many a Britpop successes was started in 1991 Mark Goodier before being shelved in December 2002. The one-off programme in April will again be hosted by Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley, the same pair which presented the midweek soundtrack show from 1993 to 1997.

However, the radio station itself is facing the axe and is due to stop operations at the end of next year, dousing any hopes of Evening Sessions' permanent revival.

The show was most well known for discovering and publicizing new talent. Announcing their return to the airwaves, Lamacq said that though both of them have "slightly different visions of what pop music is, they seem to complement each other."

The duo will be revisiting some of the music, interviews and sessions from the 90s while showcasing exciting bands and tracks from the present.
