ABC hires CNN's chief international reporter

ABC has hired CNN's chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour to replace George Stephano

Stephanopoulos has left the show to host Good Morning America following the departure of its host Diane Sawyer. Amanpour will be the show's first non-American accented anchor. She is well recognised as amongst the US' most respected international news analysts.

Amanpour was crowned as the "Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire" by Queen Elizabeth II in 2007 for her contribution to journalism. She was also honoured by Sarajevo for her journalistic efforts during the Bosnia war.
