ITV1 has dropped the crime drama Blue Murder starring Caroline Quentin and Ian Kelsey after five ser

First aired in 2003, the programme is the latest high-profile ITV1 drama to be dropped as part of a series of cuts and schedule reshuffles.

Caroline Quentin, who played the single mum and DCI Janine Lewis, confirmed that the series would not be returning. She said the cast and crew had no clue of this when they shot the last episode screened in October.

ITV has also axed other shows, including Stephen Fry's Kingdom, Where The Heart Is and Wire in The Blood. The production of Heartbeat and The Royal are stalled.
