ABC News plans paywall by June

Paul Slavin, senior vice-president of ABC News Digital, has revealed plans for a content paywall in

ABC News executives are reportedly putting together a formal strategy for the paywall. It is not the first time the company has adopted the paid content route, having put its videos behind a subscription wall in 2003.

The news and broadcasting division is going through a massive re-organisation, with cuts expected to accelerate the network's focus on digital newsgathering.

Slavin insisted that advertising revenues for the ABC division are getting stronger and said that "alternatives to ad support... will involve creating some mix of free and paid content for our digital content."
