ITV and STV recommission ‘Taggart’
The broadcasters ITV and STV will make a new series of long-running Glasgow detective drama Taggart,
By New Statesman Published 19 February 2010ITV and STV, which are involved in a long-running commercial battle over payments for programming, TV advertising sales, and video-on-demand rights, have agreed to co-commission a six-part series of the show. Pay-TV broadcaster UKTV will also invest and get repeat rights in return.
The drama will debut on STV in Scotland this autumn. It will be broadcast in ITV1 across the rest of the UK in 2011. UKTV's Alibi digital channel can air the episodes in 2013.
The new series, which will bring the total number of Taggart episodes to 109, will begin filming in Glasgow in spring. It will be produced by Marcus Wilson.
