BBC edged out by rivals for RTS news channel award

Sky News, al-Jazeera English and CNN International have edged out BBC News Channel from the nominati

Although, the Corporation has 17 awards nominations, it has lost out to the three rivals in the news channel shortlist.

For the 'news programme of the year' award, BBC's 10pm News, ITV's News at Ten and the Channel 4 News at 7pm are the finalists.

BBC's David Dimbleby, ITV News's Julie Etchingham and Channel 4 News's Krishnan Guru-Murthy are vying for the 'presenter of the year' title.

The awards are open to organisations broadcasting in the UK and companies that supply UK news broadcasters.

Channel 4 has 10 nominations, ITV has eight, and Sky News has five. Channel Five, UTV and Associated Press Television News have one nomination each.
