First Freeview set top box hits the UK market

Humax has launched the first Freeview HD set top box in the UK market.

The product was launched at the flagship John Lewis store on Oxford Street in London.

The set top box, equipped with a DVB-T2 tuner, supports Freeview's existing channels and interactive services. It will also be able to receive BBC HD and ITV HD.

Freeview HD began live technical transmissions on 2 December covering London and England's North West homes. It is expected to be available to 50 per cent of the population by June 2010.
