Channel 4 drops Friends

Channel 4 will stop airing the hit US comedy Friends from next autumn. The sitcom has been broadcast

The broadcaster has reportedly reached a deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution to end its association with Friends.

Head of Channel 4 acquisitions Gill Hay reportedly said: "It's time to say goodbye to old Friends and welcome new ones, in the form of comedy, drama and entertainment".

Comedy Central has bought the rights to the sitcom starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer. It has plans to telecast the show for four years.
