Essex Lion Story Provides Flimsy Pretext For All These Cute Pictures of Lion Cubs
If life gives you lions, make lionade.

There may, or may not, be a lion on the loose in Essex.
We could be snarky about it being a slow news day - OR we could give you lots of pictures of cute lion cubs.
Tough call.

[Insert joke about TOWIE and red carpets]

The lion, if there is one, was probably as adorable as this once.

It may have had brothers and sisters.

It may have survived the harsh Essex winters by eating snowballs.

This may, or may not, be a picture of it learning to swim at Colchester Leisure World.

This would be inadvisable on the A12, particularly the busy section around Brentwood.

Have run out of Essex-based captions.

The baby lions are angry now.

These are wonderful pictures of lions. But the 'essex lion' is definitely the cutest. I can just imagine this story getting lost in translation around the world and people coming from afar to see the 'essex lion'. I can just hear Boris saying, 'essex is a wonderful place and they are very proud of their lions'.
HaHa! Being an Essex Boy, it would be good to see my home county associated with something different to Ford Escorts and chavs.
I live in Colchester and have been out and about today. I saw no lion on my travels and, as far as I know, no lion saw me. It's nice to see a fluffy animal story in the New Statesman, in contrast to the usual diet of anger and division you normally find on political websites.
Easily the most factual, relevant and hard-hitting article seen in the NS this year. Hopefully a sign of things to come....
