Sarah Palin: now even Alaska doesn’t like her

New poll shows Palin is more unpopular in Alaska than in any state except Massachusetts.

Does familiarity breed contempt? In the case of Sarah Palin it appears so. A new poll by the US firm Public Policy Polling has found that Palin's unpopularity extends even to her home state of Alaska. In the Last Frontier just 33 per cent of voters have a favourable opinion of her, compared to 58 per cent with a negative view. The only place where voters take a dimmer view of Palin is Massachusetts, the most liberal state in the Union.

As Public Policy Polling notes, what makes the Alaskan numbers particularly bad is that Palin is significantly more unpopular among Republicans here than she is elsewhere. In most states roughly 80 per cent of Palin's party have a favourable view of her. But in Alaska this falls to just 60 per cent.

However, far more damaging for Palin's presidential prospects is her continuing unpopularity in the bellwether states of Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. In these states an average of just 36 per cent of voters have a favourable view of her, compared to 56 per cent with a negative one.

After another recent poll showed that 64 per cent of Americans believe she is unqualified to be president (compared to 23 per cent who think she is) the conclusion is clear: the Republicans will not take the White House back if they select Palin.

So Tomroreu thinks there are a lot of evil people in the world now. Palin is one of them and she would bring ruin and disaster upon America as President. Supporting Palin as about the most unpatriotic act it is possible for an American to commit.

If I was an US citizen and faced with Palin as a candidate for high office I would mutter "poor fellow my country" and emigrate.

Palin brings a refreshing new dimension to politics rather like Teddy Roosevelt did once and Putin is now doing in old Russia. Its the cult of personality. People tend to identify with the President they elect, they like to see themselves as their elected President is. Sometimes the country is the president and the president the country. In Britain we are at the moment being run by a bunch of chinless wonders and hooray henrys and anachronistic monarchy; thats how the Brits see themselves, at the moment.

Alaska was always an iffy State for Palin, even when she won the Governorship. They are disappointed because she deserted them for designer politics haf way through her term, and she didn't gon for the Senate seat either, prefering the cushier Washington environment. Most politicians here would be happy with a 60% approval rating, esp Clegg. So we shouldn't writ off Palin until Oprah Winfrey sings.

The thing is Obama needs Palin, clear blue water, just to remind Americans of not to walk gently into an abyss.

Marissa Tomroreu sounds like a right nut job. If that's a sample of Palin's followers, then the world should hope that she NEVER gets control of the US nuclear button.

I remember she thinks that dinosaurs lived only 6,000 years ago and that Alaska will be the only place "God" spares when armegedon wipes out the rest of the world.
