The photo above appears to show Barack Obama spontaneously reacting to David Beckham’s reaction to the England goalkeeper Robert Green’s epic fail in Saturday’s England-US World Cup match.
The Atlantic blog lauded the “sublime timing (and framing) by the photographer at the White House”.
But — as an update to the blog explains — it was too good to be true. Have a closer look at the picture, and check the reflection on the table. It’s a fake, apparently created by Matt Jordan. Oh well. Anglo-American relations live another day.
