What could have led the Lib Dem leader down the aisle with the dark (blue) side?

With the dust settling on Nick Clegg and David Cameron's agreement to form a Tory-Lib Dem coalition, many have wondered what could have led the progressive party leader to walk down the aisle with the dark (blue) side. Here are Clegg's possible reasons -- in rap!

as we all recall nick clegg worked as a m.e.p and his 2 apprenticship was done with the guidance of 2 tories mp's.IWONDERING WHAT THIS NEW PARTY'S NAME IS?CONDEMNATION PARTY,thats how many ex liberal and tory voters must feel.but we must allow them the chance to practice what they both preached prior to the election.because aslready promises have been broken due to the coalition.vultures are prowling for a feast due to th two parties diverse views and idelogies

I'd expect there are many Conservative voters who were close to voting Lib Dem and perhaps the other way around too. If the party leaders see more of an advantage than a problem then I do too. Individual respect and a little give and take is all that's required. Let them get on with their jobs. Both parties should endeavour to make the coalition work and crack on with putting Britain right.

Curiously, for a rap song, the words 'bitch' and 'ho' seem to be missing, yet given the subject I would have thought they were entirely appropriate. Clegg and Cable shaking their booties while Cameron threatens them with his 'pimp hand' might also have been closer to the mark.

In 1997, the Labour Party asked for ten years in power before being judged - I agree with Robert that the new coalition, too, shouldn't be entirely dismissed or condemned off-hand before its policies have been put into action. But I think five years (or much, much less) will be long enough to see it for what it is . . . I'm as sceptical as the next lefty but not as dismayed as some of my friends and colleagues.

As for "bitch", "ho" and "pimp hand" - I see Balzac's Coinpurse's point, but I was going for clean family entertainment! I even replaced "motherf***er" with "hoodie hugger".

what about how clegg sold out to cam on PR NOW HE WANTS TO CHANGE FIRST PASSED THE POST FOR WELL FIRST PASSED THE POST . THE AV ISENT A PROPORTIONAL SYESTEM AT ALL ITS AN ALTERNITIVE FIRST PASSED THE POST SYESTEM , WATE TILL THE VOTERS REALISE THIS . ASK LOYED GEORGE THE FORMER LIB DEL PM HE SAID AV WAS THE SAME AS FIRST PASSED THE POST.CLEGG SOLD THE ENTIRE PARTY DOWN THE RIVER.

There are powers out there of whom we have no knowledge,Im sure you know the quote. They will have orchestrated these coalition events. The people are now going to have to repay the zillions borrowed without their consent. Who are the winners?

when labour come into office they say there is no money , when the tories come in to office they say there is no money . malarky its all lies and crap to fool people so they can impliment the policys they want to on the day .

Surely a true national coallition government would have included Labour, after all they did get 258 seats and 29% of the vote. As for the press miscalculating which way Clegg would jump, it just goes to show how out of touch the press is. Even with the Guardian, Independent and New Statesman along with some good left wing blogs, I believe there is still not enough serious and credible debate on the broad left progressive issues facing the UK. We need more and immediate critical debate. I am sure I speak for a lot of disillusioned progressives

i think nick clegg and david cameron make a good team,sensible thats the word i would use.

people are just greedy these days and expect things they shouldnt nessacarily have but they have got them because they have used credit.

maggie thatcher allowed people to want more and become greedy,then we had labour what a mess the mps looked after themselves and lied to us spinning any yarn they could to keep them out of trouble.

i think its a good thing that we now have some common sense in the top office and i think nick clegg is equal to david cameron

I also think people who are whinging about the cuts have turned into greedy people who expect things now because of maggie thatcher and then labour (credit) which people got and still get is not the way to live you should live within your means.

Im just peeded off with the superficial life that people live these days and it seems to be the more you have the better the person you are( what a pile of crap)

i feel we should go back and remember the good times we had as kids and not get screwed up with brand names and the biggest tv and consider each other instead of been greedy and ignorant.
