Good news for Labour, this. In its first gain of the night, it’s taken Blaenau Gwent back from the independent candidate Dai Davies.
As you’ll remember, in one of the biggest upsets of the 2005 election, Peter Laws (an independent candidate) overturned a Labour majority of 19,313 after resigning from the party in protest at the imposition of an all-women shortlist.
It’s good to see the seat once represented by Nye Bevan and Michael Foot back in Labour’s hands.
